This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal data when you use themarketsunplugged.com and related services. It reflects the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and applies regardless of where you are located.
Scope
This policy covers our public website, member areas, emails and customer support. It does not cover third-party sites we link to.
Data we collect
Data you provide
- account and contact data such as name, email address and password
- membership selections and billing information such as plan and renewal status
- messages sent to support, and interactions in any community spaces we operate
Data collected automatically
- usage and device data such as pages viewed, timestamps, IP address, device and browser identifiers, session events and logs
- cookies and similar technologies, as explained below
Data from third parties
- payment status and tokens from Stripe (we do not store full card numbers)
- email delivery and engagement data from our email provider
- analytics events from our analytics tools when you consent
We do not intentionally collect special category data.
Why we use your data and legal bases under PDPL
- Perform a contract… create and manage your membership, process payments, provide access and support
- Legal obligations… invoicing, accounting, fraud prevention, responding to lawful requests
- Legitimate interests… improve content and features, monitor performance, keep services secure and prevent abuse, balanced against your rights
- Consent… run analytics and marketing cookies, and send marketing where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time via our cookie banner or email preferences
We do not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. If we ever do, we will tell you and you will have the right to seek human review.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary cookies run to operate the site. Analytics and marketing cookies run only with your consent. Use the banner to Accept all, Reject all, or Manage choices, and revisit your decision any time via the persistent Cookie settings link in our footer.

Sharing and processors
We use vetted providers under written data-processing agreements, including:
- Stripe for payments and receipts (we do not store full card numbers).
- Ghost for website and membership hosting.
- Analytics, email and support tools listed in our Cookie Policy.
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data to professional advisers, prospective buyers during a merger or acquisition, or authorities when required by law.
International transfers
We and our processors may process data outside the UAE. Transfers follow PDPL rules using adequacy decisions where available or appropriate safeguards such as contractual clauses approved by the UAE Data Office. Details of the safeguards we rely on are available on request.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above and to meet legal, accounting and reporting requirements. Examples:
- account and billing records are retained for the periods required by UAE law after your membership ends, then deleted or anonymised
- support tickets are typically retained up to 24 months after closure
- analytics data is retained according to the tool settings and your consent status
We issue a digital invoice or receipt after each charge or renewal and retain billing records as required.
Your rights under PDPL
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to certain processing including direct marketing. You also have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
How to exercise: email contact@themarketsunplugged.com. We may ask for information to verify your identity. We aim to respond within 30 days and may extend by up to 60 days for complex or multiple requests; if we extend we will explain why. Some rights may be limited by law.
You may also lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.
Security
We apply administrative, technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege principles, monitoring, back-ups and periodic reviews. No method is 100% secure.
Breach notification
If a personal data breach occurs that could harm privacy or data security, we will notify the UAE Data Office without undue delay and, where required, inform affected individuals.
Children
Our services are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Arabic version
An Arabic version will be made available. Where UAE law requires Arabic for consumer documents, the Arabic version prevails in case of conflict.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates on this page and, where material, notify you by email or in-product. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly.
