The Analysts Behind The Markets Unplugged

The people behind The Markets Unplugged

Two analysts. Publishing in the open.

The Markets Unplugged is built by two analysts who publish under the names Doc and Oz. The tools, the research and the calls on this site come from them directly, not from a content team. This page is who they are, what each one focuses on, and the body of work behind them.

4+Years publishing
130+Podcast episodes
130+Countries reached
700+Research pieces
Publishing in the open for more than four years, through three full market cycles. Crypto Unplugged was founded in 2020 and the weekly podcast launched in 2021. The dated record of what we built, and when, is public.
More than 130 podcast episodes, with listeners in over 130 countries.
Over 700 published research pieces across the platform, free and paid.
Podcast guests have included Tone Vays, the Bitcoin analyst and derivatives trader who spent a decade on Wall Street before moving into Bitcoin; Natalie Brunell, the award-winning investigative journalist who now hosts the Coin Stories podcast; Jonathan Chester, founder of the Bitcoin payroll platform Bitwage; and Grant Cardone, the real estate investor behind Cardone Capital.
We have never taken coin money and have never been paid promoters. No project has ever paid to appear in our research.
Dr
Doc
Co-founder and host of the Crypto Unplugged podcast
On-chain and alt-sector research

Doc leads on-chain and alt-sector research at The Markets Unplugged, and hosts the Crypto Unplugged podcast, the platform's media arm. His on-chain work asks the same question of Bitcoin and of Ethereum, separately: where does this asset sit in its own cycle, judged against its own history rather than against the mood of the market. Each gets its own engine rather than one borrowed from the other, because the two chains do not leave the same evidence behind. In practice that means reading valuation, holder behaviour and spending against years of history, and being willing to say when the picture is unclear.

The second half of his work is alt research. Rather than chase whatever is moving, he keeps alt coverage organised by sector and compares names against their own peers, so a position is judged on relative standing rather than on momentum. Every review is dated, and where a name has not been looked at again it is shown as carried forward rather than quietly treated as reconfirmed.

Doc holds an MA in Linguistics from the UK and has a background in education, which shows in how the research is explained rather than simply asserted.

Frameworks built by Doc
Oz
Oz
Co-founder and lead technical analyst
Technical, macro and cycle analysis

Oz leads technical, macro and cycle analysis at The Markets Unplugged. Where Doc reads the chain, Oz reads timing and conditions: when in a cycle a low has historically tended to form, what the wider macro backdrop is doing to risk appetite, and whether the crypto market itself is internally healthy or quietly deteriorating. He publishes the Cycle Read every Monday, which is where most of that work reaches members first, and he is the analyst walking through the charts on the Crypto Unplugged YouTube channel.

His frameworks deliberately answer narrow questions rather than broad ones. One brackets when, not how low. One reads the macro regime by comparing this year against every year on record. One asks a single weekly question about Bitcoin and refuses to answer anything else. He is also the instructor on the Cycle Intelligence course, where the macro and volatility work is taught in full rather than summarised.

Oz holds a BSc in Computer Science from the UK and has a background in education, which shows in frameworks he has built and coded himself rather than borrowed off a shelf.

Frameworks built by Oz

Crypto Unplugged is the media arm of The Markets Unplugged, and it runs on two tracks. The podcast, hosted by Doc, has passed 130 episodes with listeners in over 130 countries, and its guest list spans traders, journalists, founders and mainstream finance. The YouTube channel is where Oz walks through the charts, with Bitcoin, Ethereum and altcoin analysis built around macro, on-chain data and technical context. Between them they are the longest-running public record of how this team thinks, which is the point of keeping both free.

Every tool publishes its limits
Our methodology page sets out what each tool measures, what it puts on screen, and what it will not do, including where a tool is structurally weak or resting on a thin sample. A tool that only advertises its strengths is marketing, not method.
No paid coverage, ever
No project has ever paid to appear in our research. No coin money, no paid promotion, no quiet arrangements. It is the single easiest way for a crypto research business to make money, and the reason we do not is that the research stops being worth anything the moment it is for sale.
We publish where we are wrong
Every setup has a level at which it is invalid, and we publish that level in advance rather than after the fact. Not every week has a signal either. When there is no clear read we say so, because overconfidence is the fastest way to lose trust.

See the work, not the claims.

The public library is free and open. Read the research first, and decide from there.

Everything published by Doc and Oz on this site is educational and reflects the platform's own research. It is not financial or investment advice, a solicitation to buy or sell, or a guaranteed outcome. Crypto assets are volatile. Always do your own research before making investment decisions.
