Two changes to The Tape this week, both from your feedback: a Screen view that puts everything on one screen, and the layouts I use myself, ready to load in one tap.
Best on a computer or laptop
The Tape shows a lot at once: the price, the order book across five exchanges, futures and the live flashes. It works on a phone, but a computer or laptop is the best way to use it. The wider the screen, the more you see side by side.
Screen view
Click Screen view, next to Simple and Pro, and The Tape becomes one screen, laid out like a trading platform:
- The chart fills the space, with the key numbers in one slim strip across the top.
- Two panels sit under the chart and the rest fold down to their title. Click any of them to open it.
- Down the right-hand side, tabs for the Flashes, Setups, Buy zones and the Book read.
- No scrolling. Press Esc or Page view to go back. The Tape remembers which one you prefer.
Screen view needs a screen at least 1,100 pixels wide, so it shows on computers and laptops, not on phones.
Oz's layouts
The Tape has a lot of switches. Now you can skip them. Tap Oz, next to Simple and Pro, and pick one of my layouts:
- Short term: the 30-minute chart with the walls, the order book balance and the live flashes, for the next few hours to a day.
- Swing: the 4-hour footprint chart. Who pushed each candle, the unfinished highs and lows, and the daily POC, for the next one to three days.
- Big picture: the weekly chart with the cost basis lines and liquidation levels.
Each layout comes with a short note on what it is for. Your own setup is kept safe: Back to my view puts everything back exactly as you had it. When I update a layout, you get the new version the next time you open The Tape. The same menu has My layouts: save up to five of your own set-ups with a name, and they follow you to any computer, phone or tablet.
Smaller changes
- Scrolling over the chart now scrolls the page. To zoom, hold Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) while you scroll, pinch on a trackpad, or click the chart first.
- Flashes in the side column show two lines. Click one to read the rest.
- When you come back, the header is tidier so the chart is on screen straight away. Intro brings the explainer back.
Same as always: The Tape shows where orders are waiting and what happened when price got there. It doesn't tell you where price goes next, and it isn't a buy or sell call.
